Welcome to my class website!  This site has been created for my students and their parents in order to provide better communication between home, school, and community.  I hope you will find the information on this website meaningful and informative.   This site is updated weekly, so come back often.
Our class newsletter includes test information, spelling words, and other important class information.  Click on the picture above to see this week’s newsletter.

(You will need a program such as Adobe Reader to view this newsletter file and the lesson plans below.  You may download Adobe Reader here.)

(Please Note:  These plans are posted each week on Monday.  Changes may occur during the week due to the need for reteaching, student participation in assemblies, etc...  If you would like to take a brief glimpse of what we will be covering during this quarter/year, click on the math and reading links to see the sequence of content for those areas.)

Our class is using the Class Dojo behavior management system this year. Class Dojo allows me to track student behavior and learning skills throughout the day! Students will be awarded points for positive behaviors and skills and will have points taken away for negative actions. It is a great tool to not only help students recognize weaknesses they need to work on but to also point out their strengths and areas of improvement. One of the great features of Class Dojo is that parents can log-in at anytime throughout the week to see how their children are doing. They will also receive a “behavior and skills report” every Friday by email. You can click on the icon above to go to the Class Dojo website.

Students should read the reading story, read from their selected A.R. books, and study their spelling words each night.  Students should practice the weekly multiplication facts throughout the week.  Students will also need to study for Math, Social Studies, and Science tests as they come up.  Upcoming tests will be posted on the weekly newsletter.  Additional homework sheets will be sent home as needed.

About Me

I have been teaching for twenty-eight years.  I grew up just two houses down the road from where I currently live and attended Jefferson School from Kindergarten through 8th grade.  I graduated from Murray State University in 1989, subbed in a variety of classrooms for one year, and then was hired as a Kindergarten teacher at Jefferson.  After one year of half-day Kindergarten, I moved to full-time 2nd grade teacher.  I taught 2nd grade for several years and then taught 5th grade for about 3 years before moving back to 3rd grade where I have been for a number of years.  My husband Tim works at Southern FS, and I have two wonderful daughters and an awesome son-in-law.  Hattie goes to MCHS, and Sophia and Josh live in Nashville, TN. We also have a two cats named Biscuit and Grayby and a dog named Hershey.

I enjoy learning new things, and I am always on a journey to find new ways to use technology in my classroom!  I have recently earned my Apple Teacher certification and have been named as a Classkick Teacher Ambassador.
